Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled IP Engineer to support our company's intellectual property (IP) strategy. This includes responsibilities such as invention mining, patent drafting assistance, prior art searches, and portfolio management. In this role, you will collaborate closely with R&D teams, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure that our innovations are effectively protected and align with our business objectives.
This position will report directly to the General Counsel and will be based in Baden, Switzerland.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
- Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis.
- Assist with internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
- Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on portfolio status.
- Monitor competitor patents and industry IP trends.
- Support IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement activities when necessary.
- Provide training to engineers on IP awareness and best practices.
- Support the R&D Team in the U.S. and China.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with patent systems in major jurisdictions (e.g., US, EP, CN).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with patent search tools.
- Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is a plus.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
