Engagement, Change & Learning (ECL) Lead

Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, with significant research and development functions located here. We are currently seeking an Engagement, Change & Learning (ECL) Lead for our long-term client, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel.

Background:

The ECL Lead will be responsible for developing and overseeing the overarching Engagement, Change, and Learning (ECL) strategy for the transformation portfolio. This role involves translating business goals into an actionable plan that enhances business readiness and user adoption.

As the leader of the ECL function, you will provide strategic direction and operational oversight, managing an integrated plan, budget, and resources, while representing the function in key leadership forums. Your work will include overseeing local implementation teams to ensure readiness and energizing the global Change Agent Network. In partnership with internal strategic partners, you will design and implement a comprehensive learning strategy that co-creates sustainable solutions. Collaborating closely with the Communications lead, you will establish a consistent stakeholder engagement plan and develop key metrics to monitor adoption. You will also align with other major strategic initiatives, ensuring a cohesive experience across the organization.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the overarching ECL strategy, ensuring strategic business goals are translated into actionable business readiness and adoption plans.
  • Ensure seamless integration between local implementation and deployment teams (e.g., Business Implementation Squads) with the overall ECL function.
  • Govern the stakeholder engagement plan and partner with the Communications lead to develop a unified, compelling narrative.
  • Lead the global Change Agent Network, building and mobilizing a successful network of business champions for grassroots adoption.
  • Oversee the global learning strategy, from needs analysis to final design and delivery of all training materials.
  • Establish a measurement framework for adoption and business readiness, including necessary metrics and feedback channels.
  • Manage strategic alignment with other Roche initiatives, ensuring cohesive change and communication plans.
  • Drive sustainable capability building by partnering with internal Centers of Excellence to embed new skills and processes.
  • Ensure integration with Deployment and Business Operations teams, synchronizing all readiness, training, and communication activities with go-live and transition plans.

Must Haves:

  • University Degree in Communications, Psychology, Business, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent graduate-level degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in leading the people-side of large-scale, international business transformations, particularly in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong understanding of complex program management in a fast-paced, large-scale deployment setting.
  • Proven experience with deployment of Veeva CRM and/or Adobe Marketing Automation.
  • 5-10 years in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or a closely related, regulated field.
  • 3+ years of direct people leadership or 10+ years of matrix leadership of distributed teams, demonstrating the ability to lead and inspire.
  • Extensive expertise in Change Management methodologies (e.g., Prosci) and a proven track record of executing large-scale transformation strategies.
  • Experience in Learning & Development, including needs analysis, curriculum design, and delivery for global audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop Strategic Communication & Stakeholder Engagement plans for complex global programs.
  • Deep Organizational Acumen regarding global functions, regions, and affiliate interactions.
  • Strong Program & Dependency Management skills to integrate the ECL plan with a fast-paced deployment timeline.
  • VACC mindset with openness to Roche's new ways of working.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 10% of the time.
  • Fluency in English is a must; proficiency in other languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Italian, German) is a plus.
