ANAVIA Overview
ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems with capacities of up to 500 kilograms. Our company provides industry-leading unmanned helicopter systems tailored for various mission profiles, including Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection, Mapping, and Cargo.
Position: Electrical Systems Engineer
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of proven experience in EWIS design, wire harness development, or aerospace electrical systems.
- Experience with aircraft wiring systems, UAV and GCS electrical integration, or aerospace manufacturing is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with wire harness assembly, installation, and testing.
Skills
- Strong understanding of electrical wiring principles, wire sizing, and circuit protection.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD tools for harness design (e.g., Capital Harness, CATIA Electrical Workbench).
- Proven experience with connector systems and termination techniques.
- Understanding of EMC/EMI principles and wire segregation requirements.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, continuity testers, and hipot testers.
- Knowledge of wire protection methods, including braiding, conduit, heat shrink, and cable ties.
- Experience with composite aircraft structures and associated EWIS installation challenges.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills with the ability to support both design and production activities.
- Willingness to work in both office and production floor environments.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and aerospace wiring standards (SAE AS50881, FAA AC 21-99(0), or DO-160).
- Knowledge of lightning protection and HIRF (High Intensity Radiated Fields) protection requirements.
- Knowledge of automotive or aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
Communication
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good language skills in English (oral and written); proficiency in German is desirable.
Key Tasks
EWIS Design & Development
- Design and develop electrical wiring interconnection systems, including wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and connector systems.
- Perform wire gauge calculations, voltage drop analysis, and current carrying capacity assessments.
- Select appropriate wiring materials, connectors, terminals, and protective components based on environmental and performance requirements.
- Develop grounding and bonding schemes to ensure electrical safety and EMC compliance.
- Create detailed harness assembly drawings, wire lists, and manufacturing documentation.
Installation & Integration
- Develop installation procedures and tooling requirements for wire harness assembly and aircraft installation.
- Ensure proper wire support, strain relief, and protection from chafing, vibration, and environmental hazards.
- Coordinate wire routing through bulkheads, fairings, and structural members while maintaining adequate bend radius and clearances.
- Support prototype builds and production installations with hands-on technical guidance.
- Verify proper installation of EWIS components.
Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute test plans for EWIS continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing.
- Perform wire harness acceptance testing and quality inspections.
- Support fault isolation and troubleshooting of electrical system issues.
Compliance & Certification
- Ensure EWIS designs comply with aerospace standards including DO-160, SAE AS50881, MIL-DTL-38999, and FAA AC 21-99(0).
Documentation & Configuration Management
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, harness drawings, installation manuals, and parts lists.
- Develop interconnect diagrams (ICDs) showing electrical interfaces between systems and subsystems.
- Generate manufacturing work instructions, quality control procedures, and inspection criteria.
- Support technical publications and maintenance documentation.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams to optimize harness producibility and reduce assembly time.
- Interface with suppliers for the procurement of wire, connectors, and protective components.
Competencies & Duties
- Work independently and responsibly, performing tasks as described above.
- Compliance with ANAVIA’s employment contract, including adherence to company safety instructions and employee safety requirements.
- Comply with employers' quality manual, work instructions, and corresponding process specifications and instructions.
- Willingness to undertake international travel, required of up to 25% of work hours.
