Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Manage Site Safety in coordination with the Mercury Safety Advisor, which includes the setup, oversight, and closure of the safety file as part of the management team.
- Supervise and inspect work to ensure compliance with standard procedures and electrical assignments.
- Collaborate with Site QA and the Electrical Package Manager on achieving a ‘Right First Time’ installation.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards and codes.
- Assist in managing associated costs, including:
- Mercury Mechanical Team
- Sub-contractors
- Material deliveries and goods receipting
- Plant and Equipment
- Variations
- Valuations
- Be familiar with and manage Project Schedules in collaboration with other trades, Package Leads, consulting Engineers, and Client requirements.
- Maintain awareness of all milestone dates to ensure site activities align with the project schedule.
- Oversee daily on-site operations and activities to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Manage sub-contractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels, ensuring regular meeting minutes are documented.
- Oversee the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system and return weekly punch lists where applicable.
- Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking.
- Participate in site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings.
- Ensure the closeout of all project items including O&M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, with support from the Electrical Package Manager.
- Assist in maintaining redline drawings to develop as-built drawings for the O&M Manuals.
- Implement a weekly look-ahead to ensure coordination with other trades.
- Prepare and issue internal weekly progress reports highlighting percentage completion based on WBS codes and any risk elements within Mercury’s control.
- Coordinate material deliveries in line with the project schedule and maintain a weekly photographic diary of project progress.
- Assign work according to construction schedules and manage productivity to meet work goals.
- Contribute to enhancing construction practices and designs.
- Conduct administrative duties as required.
- Ensure construction materials are ordered and inventory is available as per planned work requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive records of progress and activities.
- Monitor and track personnel attendance and performance for future evaluations.
- Plan and schedule activities, estimate time and materials, supervise subordinates, and prepare reports.
- Provide technical guidance and support during the installation phase.
- Recommend procedure revisions to maximize the effective use of personnel and equipment.
- Inspect work for compliance with standard procedures and electrical assignments.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to ensure standards compliance.
- Attend construction meetings as necessary.
- Prepare progress reports for management.
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- A trade background with 5-10 years of experience in supervising large installation crews and sub-contractors.
- A proven track record of managing large installation projects.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
- Experience in design and build projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of both Electrical and Mechanical systems.
- Excellent IT skills.
