Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Management of the Electrical Systems under your control.
  • Support engineering requirements by managing and liaising with key project stakeholders (Client design team, Main contractor, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, etc.).
  • Familiarization with Design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of project works. Oversee the Co-ordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring specification compliance and adhering to schedule priority. This will involve generating and managing Requests for Information (RFI), Technical Queries, etc.
  • Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and the Mercury Safety Advisor, including the setup, management, and closing out of the safety file.
  • Management of Site QA in conjunction with the Mercury QA Manager, including setup, management, and close out of the file.
  • Management of Project Schedule in conjunction with Mercury Project Manager, consulting Engineer, and Client requirements to ensure engineering activities do not impact schedule (e.g., Procurement, etc.).
  • Management of all aspects associated with your package, including:
    • Mercury Electrical Team
    • Sub-contractors
    • Material deliveries and goods receipting
    • Plant and Equipment
    • Variations
    • Valuations
  • Management of all day-to-day site operations.
  • Ensure Mercury Policies and procedures are followed closely.
  • Management of sub-contractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Ensure adequate information flow for work progress; log Weekly Meetings.
  • Ensure works are installed in accordance with project specifications and to the Project QA plan (e.g., pre-agreed benchmarking).
  • Assist the Installation Package team in managing quality needs for the project on-site, providing guidance to ensure compliance with all relevant standards, codes, and specifications. This includes managing Construction Work Packs processes from development to implementation and handover.
  • Management of the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable. Ensure all snags are distributed to all sub-contractors.
  • Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking.
  • Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings.
  • Close out all project deliverables, including Final Account, O&M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant relocations, Project Plan, in collaboration with the site project manager and project team.
  • Issue weekly cost reports that include all orders placed, materials expected, and labour levels.
  • Report information essential for meeting activity targets and deadlines, generating and managing an Engineering Task Log led by the Engineering Lead.
  • Issue internal weekly progress reports compiled from project supervisors' reports, highlighting progress percentage complete based on WBS codes and any concerns, alongside risk elements within Mercury's control, such as late deliveries.
  • Issue external weekly progress reports to the project manager, outlining unavailable areas, delays, design shortages, third-party hold-ups, and percentage complete.
  • Management and execution of technical submittals and approvals.
  • Schedule material deliveries to correspond with the project schedule and track deliveries. Manage material procurement utilizing Engineering Materials Report (EMR) through material take-offs that identify lead-in periods and field need rates.
  • Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
  • Prepare sub-contract and supplier tender packages in collaboration with Project QS.
  • Assess sub-contract and supplier tender returns for technical compliance with design specifications.
  • Evaluate and promote the use of new engineering practices and processes to enhance project delivery timelines.
  • Manage BIM priorities, supporting the team in developing modular concepts, typical fabrication details, and Isometric generation for release for construction. Validate materials and assets within the model for construction. Change management is a critical process to understand and control.
  • Support and coach all junior engineers assigned to the project team, as their development is crucial to our organization and the industry.
  • All other duties associated with the role.

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria:

  • 5+ years of experience working with a recognized Mechanical/Electrical contractor.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in using systems software related to engineering functions.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Familiarity with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
  • Able to manage workload and prioritize effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of modularization (Off-site fabrication).
