ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems with a capacity of up to 500 kilograms. Our company provides industry-leading unmanned helicopter systems tailored for various mission profiles, including Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Inspection, Mapping, and Cargo.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in RF system design, development, and integration.
  • Preferred Background: Experience with UAV/UAS communication systems or aerospace RF applications is desired.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and antenna test chambers.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of RF principles, propagation theory, modulation techniques, and communication protocols.
  • Tools: Proficiency with RF simulation and analysis tools (e.g., CST, STK, or equivalent). Familiarity with datalink standards and protocols (e.g., STANAG 4586, Video/Data links).
  • Antenna Knowledge: Experience with antenna design, selection for airborne applications, and testing methodologies.
  • Problem-Solving: Hands-on problem-solving skills, capable of supporting both design and production activities. Willingness to work in both office and production environments.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory frameworks and certification standards for unmanned aircraft (e.g., FAA Part 107, EASA regulations, RTCA DO-160).
  • Communication: Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, manage multiple tasks independently, and excel in both oral and written English. German is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • RF System Design & Development:
    • Design and develop RF communication systems and datalink architectures for VTOL UAV platforms operating in the 50-750 kg MTOW range.
    • Conduct RF link budget analysis, antenna selection, and system performance modeling.
    • Optimize telemetry, command and control, and payload data transmission systems.
    • Develop RF system specifications and interface requirements documentation.
  • Integration & Testing:
    • Lead the integration of RF/datalink systems with aircraft avionics and ground control stations.
    • Conduct RF system testing, including radiated and conducted emissions, susceptibility testing, and interference analysis.
    • Provide flight test support and validate RF system performance in operational environments.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve RF performance issues during development, integration, and field operations.
  • System Analysis & Optimization:
    • Analyze RF propagation characteristics and devise mitigation strategies for multipath, interference, and jamming scenarios.
    • Optimize antenna placement and orientation to minimize interference with aircraft structures and other systems.
    • Evaluate emerging RF technologies and datalink standards for potential integration into future platforms.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Provide technical guidance for documentation and operational procedures.
    • Support regulatory compliance activities, including frequency coordination and certification requirements.
    • Maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and configuration management records.
  • Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with payload integration teams to ensure compatibility with customer sensors and communication equipment.
    • Interface with suppliers for RF component selection and procurement.
    • Derive datalink specifications and solutions from mission requirements.
    • Support customer demonstrations, training, and field support activities.
