About the Role

The EHS Design Engineer will ensure that Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements are effectively implemented at all stages of an investment project, in alignment with customer policies, procedures, and legal regulations. This role focuses on evaluating safety impacts throughout the project lifecycle—from feasibility studies to detailed design—while ensuring compliance with Swiss SUVA certification standards. You will play a key role in embedding safety, environmental, and sustainability aspects into project designs, particularly within Growth Project and CAPEX initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of EHS standards and practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with design teams to integrate safety and sustainability into project designs.
• Conduct risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, ATEX, containment, fire safety evaluations) during various project phases.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations (e.g., SUVA certification).
• Prepare necessary documentation for regulatory approvals related to project execution.
• Maintain records to support regulatory audits and compliance checks.
• Act as the primary EHS representative for projects, working closely with engineering teams.
• Develop and manage EHS deliverables such as initial assessments, CAR reviews, operational safety plans, and risk reports.
• Monitor project progress against defined EHS milestones and provide updates to stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

• Language Skills: Fluent in English (C1 level); fluent German is highly desirable (mandatory for the Environmental EHS Engineer role).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar EHS role within industries such as Pharmaceutical, Construction, Biomanufacturing, or Oil & Gas.
• Certification: SUVA safety engineering certification or equivalent from a recognized national authority.
• Specialization: Expertise in either Fire Safety or Environmental Hazards/Process Safety domains.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
