Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC)
The Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC) at ETH Zurich is seeking a hands-on Education Specialist to actively support professors and lecturers in structuring their courses, integrating digital learning tools, and setting up course materials in Moodle. This role is essential for the revision of the MSc MTEC curriculum, ensuring smooth course implementation, and providing practical, day-to-day assistance to teaching staff.
If you have teaching experience, expertise in digital education, and enjoy working directly with faculty to improve teaching quality—while also being willing to handle the operational work required to make it happen—this position is for you.
This position is part of the strategic teaching development initiative PAKETH (Prüfungen und Akademischer Kalender an der ETH), aimed at creating more balanced study structures and improved learning conditions for students. In this context, the MSc MTEC curriculum is undergoing a comprehensive revision to ensure that students acquire relevant skills and competencies for academic and professional success.

- Enhance the integration of learning tools and digital resources, supporting faculty in developing the skills to effectively implement blended learning strategies, interactive content, and technology-driven teaching approaches.
- Provide hands-on support to faculty members—including new and external lecturers—by optimizing existing courses and developing new ones to ensure high-quality learning experiences.
- Facilitate workshops and individual coaching for faculty on teaching approaches and strategies, digital learning tools, and effective course delivery.
- Take responsibility for the entire course evaluation process—from timely initiation to discussing individual feedback reports with lecturers.
- Actively participate in the department's teaching commission, ensuring that all teaching-related information is appropriately shared and discussed with all relevant stakeholders (students, lecturers, and staff).
- Stay up to date with the latest teaching trends in higher education, digital education, and instructional design, bringing practical innovations to the department.
- Demonstrate adaptability and readiness to take on various tasks—from high-level advising to hands-on course implementation and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- A degree in education, instructional design, digital learning, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in instructional design (ideally within higher education), faculty development, and curriculum design.
- Strong hands-on experience in course setup, Moodle, and various digital learning tools, with the ability to structure courses efficiently and integrate interactive content.
- Teaching experience (preferably in higher education), demonstrating a deep understanding of instructional design, curriculum design, course development, and digital learning strategies.
- The ability to collaborate with a diverse range of faculty, from experienced professors to new lecturers, adapting to different working styles and fostering strong professional relationships.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, demonstrating initiative and the ability to manage both strategic and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with the latest trends in digital education, active learning, and blended learning, with the ability to translate these into practical, real-world solutions.
