MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in supporting and encouraging students, ensuring they enjoy and maximize their learning experiences within the school. Teaching assignments may include IB Economics, IB Business Management, IGCSE Economics, and AP Micro/Macroeconomics.
Additionally, the teacher may lead a homeroom advisory class, acting as the first point of contact for families of the advisees and supporting the pastoral team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Teacher will:

- Contribute to creating a caring and inclusive learning environment, prioritizing the health and well-being of each student.
- Embody and promote Collège du Léman’s RISE values of Respect, Internationalism, Spirit, and Excellence.
- Utilize and enhance existing resources to plan engaging, challenging, and rigorous economics lessons.
- Develop curricula and unit plans that consider the RISE values and foster a broad range of 21st-century skills, including ICT skills, alongside relevant course standards.
- Provide regular formative and summative feedback to students, ensuring they actively engage with the feedback process.
- Utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction appropriately, inform lesson planning, and support the excellent progress of all students.
- Collaborate closely with members of the humanities department to share best practices, plan collaboratively, offer feedback, and develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Engage with the teaching community of external examination courses to stay updated on course changes, assessment guidelines, and best teaching practices.
- Implement the school’s Teacher Appraisal - Professional Development (TAPD) framework to set and achieve clear, challenging, and relevant objectives, participating in continuous professional development.
- Manage and regularly update the school’s digital platforms, maintaining timely records of attendance, student grades, lesson plans, and resources.
- Supervise Extended Essays in Business Management, Economics, or related subjects within the IB program.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Qualification
- University degree in Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Recognized teaching qualification.
- A Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Education, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
- Previous experience teaching Economics and Business Management.
- Preferred experience in an international school setting.
- Prior experience teaching IB Economics, IB Business Management, IGCSE Economics, or AP Micro/Macroeconomics.
- Experience supervising IBDP Extended Essays and serving as an IB examiner, IGCSE examiner, and/or AP reader is a plus.
Prior Skills and Knowledge
- ICT literacy with educational tools and mainstream software.
- Fluent in English; working knowledge of French is an asset.
