MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The primary objective of this role is to encourage and support Middle School Secondaire students in enjoying and maximizing their learning opportunities. The position involves teaching English and EAL, with the potential for taking on a homeroom advisor role. This role is set to commence in mid-August 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote the school’s mission and vision by assisting both day and boarding students in discovering and developing their individual strengths, forming lifelong global connections, and striving to be their best selves.
  • Contribute to creating a caring and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that each student’s health and well-being are prioritized.
  • Embody and promote Collège du Léman’s RISE values of Respect, Internationalism, Spirit, and Excellence.
  • Engage and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in lesson plans across the grade level.
  • Assess student progress following school guidelines and record grades in the online grade book.
  • Prepare school reports according to guidelines and meet completion deadlines.
  • Utilize and enhance existing resources for teaching English and EAL classes in Middle School Secondaire.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualification

You must possess a relevant EAL teaching qualification along with a teaching qualification in English and/or EAL. A Master’s degree in a suitable pedagogy-related field is preferred.

Experience

A successful track record in teaching within a Middle School environment, particularly to students whose first language may not be English, ideally in an international school context, is essential. You should be equipped to address the diverse needs of students with diagnosed learning differences. Experience as a homeroom advisor is a plus.

Prior Experience

Fluency in English is required, as it is your mother tongue. You should possess the ability to integrate educational technology effectively to enhance learning experiences. Establishing positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries is crucial, as is demonstrating good organizational skills.

Additional Skills

The ideal candidate will excel in teamwork, meet tight deadlines, and implement effective classroom management and differentiation strategies.

The individual in this role must remain vigilant regarding Child Protection guidelines and maintain a professional distance from students while fostering effective, caring relationships.
