MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The primary objective of this position is to inspire and support students in maximizing their learning opportunities at our school. Specifically, the role involves teaching English and EAL to Middle School Secondaire students, with the potential for additional responsibilities as a homeroom advisor.

This position is expected to commence in mid-August 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote the school’s mission and vision by aiding students, both day and boarding, in discovering their individual strengths, forging meaningful global connections, and becoming their best selves.
  • Contribute to creating a caring and inclusive learning environment that prioritizes each student’s health and well-being.
  • Embody and promote Collège du Léman’s RISE values of Respect, Internationalism, Spirit, and Excellence.
  • Engage and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure lesson consistency across the grade level.
  • Assess student progress according to school guidelines and maintain accurate records in the online grade book.
  • Compose school reports as per established guidelines and adhere to completion timelines.
  • Utilize and enhance existing resources to effectively teach English and EAL classes in Middle School Secondaire.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant EAL teaching qualification along with a teaching qualification in English and/or EAL. A Master’s degree in a suitable area of pedagogy is preferred.

Experience

Applicants should have proven experience in teaching in a Middle School setting to students for whom English is not their first language, preferably within an international school environment. The ability to cater to the needs of students with diagnosed learning differences is essential. Prior experience as a homeroom advisor is considered an asset.

Additional Skills

The successful candidate will excel in teamwork, meet tight deadlines, and effectively implement classroom and differentiation strategies.

Communication Skills

The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker capable of integrating educational technology to enhance the learning experience. Strong organizational skills paired with effective verbal and written communication are crucial.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

The post holder must remain vigilant about Child Protection guidelines, maintaining a professional distance from students while fostering effective and caring working relationships. An understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion, alongside a commitment to combat discrimination in any form, is essential. Background investigations and reference checks covering the past ten years will be conducted during the selection process.
