THE POSITION
As a Biotechnician DSP, reporting to the Team Manager of DSP Commercial & Characterization Readiness (C&CR), you will be tasked with executing laboratory-scale experiments aimed at characterizing purification processes. Your primary responsibilities will include various purification activities such as buffer preparation, device setup, chromatography, TFF filtration, and in-process analytics. Flexibility to support USP C&CR and other tasks as needed within the role’s scope is expected.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute and document small-scale experimental runs in alignment with work package timelines for clients or internal initiatives.
- Document all executed work in protocols and batch records, ensuring compliance with good laboratory practices and Celonic guidelines.
- Report experimental results with a critical perspective.
- Participate in troubleshooting equipment and processes collaboratively with project scientists.
- Provide support for USP C&CR and early-stage activities as required.
- Assist in maintaining DSP equipment and laboratory facilities.
- Report Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) gaps and/or incidents and initiate improvements where necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or equivalent vocational training with a background in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant hands-on industry experience.
- Basic understanding of mammalian purification processes.
- Knowledge and initial experience with DSP laboratory-scale devices (e.g., harvest & viral filtration operations, chromatography devices, UF/DF devices) and automation systems.
- A flexible, adaptive, and collaborative team player.
- A curious mindset and a willingness to expand knowledge in the DSP field.
- Able to work independently and maintain self-discipline to meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Availability for weekend/shift work and on-call duty.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); German is a plus.
