Job Description

Your Mission

As a Domain Architect for the Ricardo Platform, part of the General Marketplace Business Unit, you will own and evolve the architectural vision for Switzerland’s leading online auction marketplace. This high-impact role will enable you to shape the future of a platform that handles close to CHF 1 billion in transactions annually. You’ll translate business strategy into scalable technical designs, implement architectural best practices, and ensure cohesion across various contexts, including listing, selling, buying, and payments. We’re on a journey to modernize a beloved platform — and we need your expertise to guide it.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the Ricardo domain architecture using Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Define subdomain structures and ensure architectural coherence across teams.
• Translate business goals into a long-term technical roadmap.
• Collaborate with Team Architects, Engineering Managers, and Product Leads to align strategy and delivery.
• Lead domain-wide modernization initiatives such as authentication revamps or event-driven architecture.
• Evaluate new technologies, run PoCs, and introduce innovations that enhance developer experience and system scalability.
• Promote a culture of learning by mentoring engineers and facilitating architectural workshops.

Qualifications

What Will You Bring to the Ride?

• Significant experience in software architecture roles, ideally within large-scale platforms.
• Strong foundation in Domain-Driven Design and building decoupled systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud-native tech (preferably GCP, Google Cloud Platform), microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to align technical direction with business goals.
• Excellent communication skills to drive consensus across teams and stakeholders.
• A passion for mentoring and enhancing architectural maturity within the organization.
