Job Opportunity: (Sr.) Director of Value, Access and Policy, Europe
The (Sr.) Director of Value, Access and Policy, Europe, serves as a pivotal partner within Acadia’s Global Value & Access Team and the European Value, Access and Policy team. This role encompasses the critical responsibility of achieving and maintaining appropriate pricing and market access through initiatives that deliver value to patients, healthcare systems, society, and the company. In collaboration with the Head of the European Value, Access and Policy team, the successful candidate will define Acadia’s market access strategy in Europe and foster an organization capable of executing these strategies across functional areas. Additionally, this position will shape product access strategies and ensure local requirements, such as the need for supplementary evidence, are identified and effectively communicated.
Primary Responsibilities
- Focus on supporting mid-size and small European countries.
- Ensure high-quality and purpose-driven pricing and access launch strategies in target countries.
- Develop comprehensive pricing and access strategies based on insights that incorporate additional evidence needs, value propositions beyond the drug, managed entry schemes, and mutual value agreements.
- Oversee the timely and high-quality delivery of pricing and reimbursement dossiers.
- Collaborate with local and European teams to identify evidence requirements necessary for successful market access in Europe and assist in the development of program-specific Evidence Plans.
- Establish a coordinated negotiation strategy with a clearly defined approach.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to enhance access engagement and education, including consulting with patients regarding their needs and the impact of disease in their local context.
- Develop and maintain personal relationships with key payers, advisors, opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and manage annual strategic plans and budgets for the function, ensuring accurate forecasting and prudent decision-making.
- Monitor trends and anticipate significant developments in Europe regarding Health Technology Assessment and government/payer reimbursement initiatives.
Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or PhD in science and/or economics preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibilities in Market Access within a pharmaceutical or biotech organization, with significant scientific exposure in rare diseases, ideally within the CNS realm, and experience with early patient access programs.
- A combination of relevant education and applicable experience may also be considered.
Key Skills
- Recent experience in early patient access programs and the launch of orphan drugs, preferably with direct or adjacent experience in the CNS space.
- Hands-on experience in pricing negotiations within one or more European markets.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional teamwork.
- Fluency in English (both written and oral) is mandatory; proficiency in additional European languages is an advantage.
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, medical, clinical, and regulatory colleagues to cultivate a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Solid digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft applications (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including strong formal presentation abilities.
- Willingness to travel, both within Europe and internationally.
