Summary
The Strategy & Growth Enterprise Portfolio Insights team at Novartis is seeking a new Director of Product Commercial Assessment & Insights (PCAI). This role is pivotal in assessing and generating transparent, evidence-based long-term revenue forecasts for our therapeutic area portfolio, pipeline, and marketed products. The Director will lead or update long-term forecasts and provide opportunity assessments, synthesizing key risks and opportunities in commercial assessments across programs and at the Therapy Area/portfolio level, focusing on one of four primary therapeutic areas: cardiovascular, immunology, neurology, or oncology.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Possess a deep understanding and hands-on experience in forecasting, new product planning, and commercial assessments, ideally with expertise in one therapeutic area (cardiovascular, immunology, neurology, or oncology).
- Synthesize key insights and clearly communicate market opportunity assessments, patient journey mapping, HCP/patient insights, competitive intelligence, and positioning strategies, identifying risks and opportunities for specific programs.
- Effectively translate complex data into clear narratives and strategic recommendations for senior leadership through impactful presentations and visualizations.
- Develop and maintain sales and volume forecasts for pipeline and marketed brands on an as-needed and evolving basis for the designated therapeutic area.
- Collaborate with the Strategy & Growth (S&G), US, and International (INT) teams, along with other cross-functional partners, to ensure product and market insights are integrated into forecasts.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders to align on critical assumptions and generate consensus on the treatment journey.
- Consolidate and summarize sales forecast assumptions, methodology, and results for relevant stakeholders, systems, and platforms.
- Support forecast development and insight generation for licensing and M&A opportunities under guidance from C&BD colleagues.
- Coach and mentor junior colleagues.
Essential Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree in one or more fields is strongly preferred.
Languages
- Fluent in oral and written English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
Experience/Professional Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry or life sciences consulting, with substantial experience in commercial assessments.
- Familiarity with epidemiology sources, such as IQVIA, Evaluate Pharma, claims, and other standard pharmaceutical databases.
- Experience incorporating big data analytics, competitive intelligence, and primary & secondary market research into forecast models.
- Proficient in identifying and implementing AI solutions where appropriate.
- Strong understanding of forecasting methodologies, including patient-based forecast modeling expertise.
- Ability to translate inputs from cross-functional business partners into commercial forecast models.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Strong project management skills with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent team-building and consulting skills, effectively collaborating in cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills.
