Legal Director, EMEA at Restaurant Brands International

The Restaurant Brands International (RBI) Legal Department is seeking a qualified Legal Director for its Zug office. This role is ideal for a corporate lawyer with a minimum of six years of transactional legal experience, aiming to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and leading law firms throughout the EMEA region.

At RBI, we support a 5-day in-office work schedule to foster collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, negotiate, and finalize legal agreements—including franchise agreements, development agreements, investment agreements, and letter agreements—with a strong attention to detail to manage risks while maximizing protections and benefits for the business.
  • Support and provide guidance on franchise disclosure and registration requirements in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Coordinate and provide legal opinions and advice from local counsel across various jurisdictions.
  • Conduct regular training on transactions, corporate matters, franchising, and other legal topics.
  • Assist business teams with day-to-day legal matters, including drafting letters and communications, interpreting legal documents, updating contract templates, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve advertising and promotional materials for all brands, collaborating with outside counsel as necessary, to ensure legal compliance.
  • Negotiate various marketing and promotions-related agreements in partnership with external counsel as appropriate.
  • Perform other general legal and business duties as assigned or required by prevailing business needs.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Fully qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Singapore, the US, England & Wales, Switzerland, or any commonwealth country.
  • A minimum of 6 years of transactional experience in a leading law firm.
  • Working knowledge of advertising law within the European Union, including consumer protection regulations, and experience in drafting and negotiating related agreements.
  • Outstanding judgment and the ability to identify, distill, and manage complex issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Excellent drafting skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong collaborative skills, capable of coordinating with RBI attorneys globally, external counsel, business leaders, executives, business development colleagues, and advisors across various functions.
  • A positive attitude with the ability to work effectively within teams, navigating different business functions and cultures across multiple time zones, while also demonstrating independence in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with a proven ability to manage pressure, handle high-volume workloads, and meet tight deadlines. Results-oriented approach.
  • Adept at anticipating legal issues and risks while developing legal strategies and setting objectives.
