Legal Director, EMEA - Restaurant Brands International
The Restaurant Brands International (RBI) Legal Department is seeking a qualified Legal Director for our Zug office. This position is ideal for a corporate lawyer with a minimum of six years of transactional legal experience. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and leading law firms across the EMEA region.
RBI operates on a five-day, in-office work schedule to foster collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite five days per week.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, negotiate, and finalize legal agreements, including franchise agreements, development agreements, investment agreements, letter agreements, and other relevant documents, ensuring meticulous attention to detail while managing risk and maximizing business protections.
- Support and provide guidance on franchise disclosure and registration requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Coordinate legal opinions and advice from local counsel in various jurisdictions.
- Conduct regular training on transactions, corporate matters, franchising, and other legal topics.
- Assist business teams with day-to-day legal matters, which may include drafting letters and communications, interpreting legal documents, updating contract templates, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Review and approve advertising and promotional materials for all brands, collaborating with outside counsel as necessary for legal compliance.
- Review and negotiate various marketing and promotion-related agreements with outside counsel as appropriate.
- Perform additional general legal and/or business duties as assigned based on business needs.
Your Skills and Experience
- A fully qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Singapore, the US, England & Wales, Switzerland, or any Commonwealth country.
- At least six years of transactional experience in a leading law firm.
- Working knowledge of advertising law, including consumer protection regulations within the European Union, and experience in drafting and negotiating marketing and promotions-related agreements.
- Exceptional judgment with a proven ability to identify, distill, and manage complex issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent drafting skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to coordinate with RBI attorneys globally, external counsel, and various business leaders and departments.
- A positive attitude and versatility in working within teams across multiple functions and cultures, even in different time zones, while also being able to act independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized, able to work efficiently under pressure with high volumes of work and tight deadlines, focused on results.
- Capability to anticipate legal issues and risks, develop legal strategies, and set objectives effectively.
