Job Description

We are seeking a Global Lead for the development of Health Economics models for vaccines. This role involves collaboration with external vendors to support access across a broad range of markets.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the Health Economic components of global value dossiers and payer value narrative material development to address local access hurdles.
  • Train local operating companies (LOC) on health economics models.
  • Co-lead timely strategic written responses to NITAGs and payers in conjunction with the medical team.
  • Support LOC HTA submissions and payer negotiations.
  • Facilitate evidence generation activities for HTA submission.

Responsibilities

We are focused on outcomes-driven project management of key global Health Economic deliverables:

  • Strategically drive the development of health economics models that cater to diverse market needs, including provincial and national reimbursements across various regions such as the EU and emerging markets in LATAM and APAC.
  • Ensure that health economic components of key access materials (e.g., Global Value Dossier, value messages) meet local market access requirements and strategically address access hurdles.
  • Manage external consultants effectively, including RFPs, selection, contract execution, budget management, and strategic guidance, acting as the primary liaison for alignment between Takeda’s internal strategy and external project delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and drive resolutions in the collaborative development of materials.
  • Define and communicate timelines while proactively mitigating challenges through timely escalation.
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions as necessary.

Technical Proficiency

We require strong technical skills in health economics, statistics, and evidence appraisal:

  • Conduct critical appraisal of clinical evidence for the Value Proposition and HE modelling, including model structure, input parameters, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Finalize HE models to ensure alignment with both internal commercial goals and external payer requirements.
  • Develop complementary evidence to support HTA submissions, including meta-analyses, ITC, and RWE studies in collaboration with Medical Affairs and Epidemiology.

Co-Lead NITAG HTA Taskforce

  • Develop timely written responses to NITAG and payer inquiries.
  • Display a strong understanding of the HTA process, with experience across various markets.
  • Adopt a strategic mindset to craft responses that address broader contexts beyond technical specifics.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and project management skills for coordinated cross-functional drafting and review of responses.

Training and Collaboration

  • Lead LOC training on materials to support HTA submissions.
  • Stay updated on health economic challenges in LOC markets through active communication.
  • Provide methodological and technical support.

Networking and Partnership

  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with members of global cross-functional teams.
  • Focus on evidence generation related to effectiveness studies and potential reimbursement conditional approvals.
  • Ensure health economic projects are strategically aligned with other functions.
  • Contribute to steering cross-functional work to best support cost-effectiveness and access hurdles.

External Advocacy

  • Manage publications related to country-specific cost-effectiveness results and the broader value of vaccines.
  • Employ a strategic and big-picture mindset for publication staging in consideration of the evolving payer landscape.

Innovation and Trends

  • Proactively identify challenges and research potential solutions to health economic issues.
  • Monitor changes in the external environment and devise innovative strategies for capturing the full economic value of vaccines.
  • Participate actively in Health Economic Networks, peer groups, and ISPOR.

Education, Competencies, and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • MSc/PhD in Health Economics, Epidemiology, or Statistics.
  • Proven track record and significant experience delivering HTA submissions and health economic models within a consultancy or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Strategic thinking capability with experience in defining, generating, and delivering health economics strategies.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to effect change without line management authority.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with strong project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ethical standards and fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally, approximately 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of vaccines, especially dengue.
  • Experience with HTA submissions and access hurdles in Latin America and Asia Pacific.
  • Experience with WHO and PAHO reviews.
  • Passion for demonstrating the full value of vaccines and influencing health economic advancements to address current challenges.
