Job Title: Global Lead - Health Economics
Accountabilities
Serve as the global leader for the development of health economics models for vaccines in collaboration with external vendors to support market access across a wide range of countries.
Lead the health economics components of global value dossiers and payer value narratives aimed at addressing local access challenges.
Conduct training sessions for local operating companies (LOCs) on health economic models.
Co-lead the timely and strategic written responses to National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) and payers, in conjunction with the medical team.
Support LOC Health Technology Assessment (HTA) submissions and negotiations with payers.
Facilitate evidence generation activities to support HTA submissions.
Responsibilities
Drive outcomes-driven project management for key global health economic deliverables.
Strategically develop health economics models that cater to diverse market needs, including provincial and national reimbursement strategies in Europe and emerging markets in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.
Lead the creation of health economic components for essential access materials (e.g., Global Value Dossier, value messages), ensuring alignment with local market access requirements.
Effectively manage external consultants, overseeing RFP processes, selection, contract execution, budget management, and providing strategic guidance as the main liaison between Takeda's internal strategy and external project delivery.
Exhibit leadership within cross-functional teams while resolving challenges related to material development.
Establish and communicate timelines, proactively mitigating potential obstacles through timely escalation.
Anticipate issues and implement proactive solutions as necessary.
Utilize strong analytical skills for critical appraisal of clinical evidence for value propositions and health economic modeling, including model structure, input parameters, and sensitivity analyses.
Finalize health economic models, ensuring they fulfill internal commercial objectives and comply with external payer requirements.
Develop supplementary evidence for HTA submissions, collaborating with Medical Affairs, Epidemiology, and other relevant functions.
Co-lead the NITAG HTA taskforce and craft timely written responses to inquiries from NITAGs and payers, considering the broader strategic context.
Train LOCs on materials necessary to support HTA submissions, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of health economics challenges in local markets.
Engage with global cross-functional teams to foster partnerships and ensure alignment on health economic projects.
Promote advocacy and awareness through managing publications relating to cost-effectiveness results and the broader value of vaccines.
Identify health economic challenges and explore innovative solutions, demonstrating a willingness to challenge conventional thinking.
Monitor trends in the health economics field and contribute to discussions within health economics networks and professional groups.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
MSc or PhD in Health Economics, Epidemiology, or Statistics.
Proven track record of delivering HTA submissions and health economic models within a consultancy or pharmaceutical setting.
Strong strategic thinking skills with a history of defining and implementing health economics strategies across the business.
Excellent leadership and influencing capabilities, able to drive consensus without direct authority.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
A strong enthusiasm for success and the capacity to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrate solid ethical standards.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of vaccines, particularly dengue.
Experience navigating HTA submission processes and access challenges in Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions.
Familiarity with WHO and PAHO reviews.
Motivated to showcase the full value of vaccines and influence health economics to address current challenges, including opportunities for publication and participation in relevant networks.
