Job Title: Global Lead for Health Economics

Accountabilities

  • Serve as the Global Lead for the development of Health Economics models for vaccines in collaboration with external vendors to support access across a diverse range of markets.
  • Oversee the Health Economic components of global value dossiers and payer narrative material aimed at addressing local access hurdles.
  • Conduct training sessions for local operating companies (LOCs) on Health Economic models.
  • Collaborate with Medical to provide timely, strategic written responses to NITAGs and Payers.
  • Assist LOCs with HTA submissions and payer negotiations.
  • Support evidence generation activities for HTA submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key global Health Economic deliverables through an outcomes-driven project management approach.
  • Drive the strategic development of Health Economics models that cater to various market needs, including provincial and national reimbursement across the EU and emerging markets in LATAM and APAC.
  • Facilitate the creation of health economic components of essential access materials, ensuring alignment with local market access needs.
  • Effectively manage external consultants, including RFPs, selection, contract execution, budget management, and strategic guidance on projects, serving as the primary liaison for alignment with Takeda's internal strategy.
  • Demonstrate leadership in cross-functional teams, driving resolutions throughout the development of materials.
  • Establish clear timelines and proactively mitigate challenges through timely escalation.
  • Anticipate challenges and implement solutions as necessary.

Technical Expertise

  • Conduct critical appraisal of clinical evidence for Value Proposition and Health Economic modeling, including model structure, input parameters, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Finalize Health Economic models to ensure they meet both internal commercial goals and external payer requirements.
  • Develop supplemental evidence to support HTA submissions through meta-analyses, ITC, and RWE studies in collaboration with Medical Affairs, Epidemiology, and relevant functions.

NITAG HTA Taskforce

  • Co-lead timely written responses to NITAG and payer inquiries, maintaining a strong understanding of the HTA process.
  • Craft responses strategically, addressing broader contexts beyond technical specifics.
  • Utilize excellent communication and project management skills to facilitate coordinated drafting and review processes.

Training and Collaboration

  • Lead training for LOCs to support HTA submissions.
  • Continuously build and maintain knowledge of health economics challenges in LOC markets through frequent communication.
  • Offer methodological and technical support for health economic projects.

Cross-Functional Liaison

  • Seek opportunities to engage and partner with members of global cross-functional teams.
  • Focus on evidence generation, particularly in projects related to effectiveness studies and conditional reimbursement approval.
  • Ensure health economic projects align strategically with other functions, guiding cross-functional initiatives to effectively address cost-effectiveness and access hurdles.

External Advocacy

  • Manage publications related to country-specific cost-effectiveness results and overall vaccine value.
  • Adopt a strategic mindset for staging publications while considering the evolving payer landscape.

Proactive Problem Solving

  • Identify health economic challenges and research potential solutions.
  • Exhibit a lateral mindset, willing to challenge the status quo and propose alternative approaches.

Future Trends in Health Economics

  • Monitor changes in the external environment and develop innovative ways to capture the full economic value of vaccines.
  • Participate actively in Health Economic Networks, peer groups, and ISPOR meetings.

Education, Competencies, and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • MSc/PhD in Health Economics, Epidemiology, or Statistics.
  • Significant experience delivering HTA submissions and developing health economic models in a consultancy or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Proven strategic thinking abilities and experience in defining and implementing health economics strategy.
  • Exceptional leadership and influencing skills, capable of steering initiatives without direct authority.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, with a passion for success.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally, approximately 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of vaccines, particularly dengue.
  • Experience with HTA submissions and access challenges in Latin America and Asia Pacific.
  • Familiarity with WHO and PAHO review processes.
  • A motivation to demonstrate the full value of vaccines and to advocate for advancements in health economics.
