Lead a unique museum into its next development phase. The Museum Langmatt in Baden, nestled between Impressionism, a historic villa, and a vibrant cultural location, houses one of the most significant private collections of French Impressionism in Europe. The interplay of art, architecture, park, and cultural exchange endows the museum with a distinct aura.

Position: Director (80 – 100%)

In this key role, you will be fully responsible for the Museum Langmatt and will collaboratively develop the institution with the board of trustees. You will lead a small team and oversee programming, collections, operations, and finances, while maintaining a close connection to the themes and implementation of a manageable museum operation. Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and executing exhibitions and events
• Developing educational activities
• Curatorial collection work
• Establishing collaborations and partnerships
• Enhancing the pavilion and rooms as spaces for art, education, and interaction
• Securing additional funding
• Representing the museum to the public, political entities, media, and the professional community

Ideal Candidate

We seek an experienced individual capable of connecting art, people, and operations, with a passion for leading a museum with a distinctive profile in an engaged and visionary manner. You should have:

• Firsthand experience in museum work, including realizing exhibitions and working with collections
• A degree in art history or a related field
• Solid knowledge of European art from the 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly French Impressionism
• Familiarity with contemporary art
• Strong leadership skills, business acumen, and strategic thinking
• An effective approach to partners and sponsors
• Fluency in German and very good English skills
