Job Title: Director Business Unit Dental Preservation

The Director of Business Unit Dental Preservation is a vital member of the COLTENE Group Marketing and Product Management leadership team. This role is responsible for steering the strategic direction and operational success of all products within the Dental Preservation segment. It demands a robust business acumen along with a deep understanding of Endodontic and Restorative workflows.

This position oversees the complete product portfolio and business operations, ensuring alignment with COLTENE Group’s global vision and market demands. By leading cross-functional teams—including product managers, junior product managers, and other support functions—the Director ensures profitable growth, innovation, and operational excellence across the unit while cultivating strong relationships with key customers, industry partners, and stakeholders. They take full ownership of the product lifecycle, from conception to phase-out, bearing overall accountability for the success of their product segment on a global scale.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree, MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Engineering, Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field; Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in business management or leadership roles within the dental, medical device, or healthcare industry, including at least 5 years in a senior management capacity.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in dental manufacturing or related regulated industries is essential for this role.
  • Strong Business Acumen: Proven ability to manage product development and lifecycle for Endodontic and Restorative products, with experience in close collaboration with dental professionals.
  • Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies, manage P&L responsibilities, and drive organizational growth.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial, analytical, and budgeting skills, with a proven track record in managing budgets and forecasting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to lead.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction & Execution: Define and implement the overall strategy for the business unit, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market opportunities.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgets, product margins, and ensure financial targets are met through effective resource allocation and cost management.
  • Portfolio Management: Lead the management of the product portfolio, collaborating with product teams to optimize performance, market positioning, and revenue growth.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and customer insights to guide strategic decision-making and identify new business opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with R&D, marketing, sales, manufacturing, operations, and regulatory teams to drive integrated initiatives that enhance product and business performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers, distributors, industry influencers, and internal leadership to support business objectives.
  • Innovation & Process Improvement: Champion continuous improvement and innovation initiatives, driving new product development and integrating new technologies and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient and effective operations by streamlining processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Talent Management: Mentor and develop team members, including segment heads and product managers, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional growth.
  • Sales & Marketing Alignment: Work closely with sales and marketing leaders to develop go-to-market strategies, ensuring effective product launches and market penetration.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks within the business unit, ensuring sustainable operations and continuity of business.
  • Reporting & Strategic Insight: Provide regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to the leadership team, driving informed decision-making at the highest levels.
