Job Title: Director of Business Unit Dental Preservation

The Director of Business Unit Dental Preservation is a pivotal member of the COLTENE Group Marketing and Product Management leadership team. This role is responsible for steering the strategic direction and operational success of all products within the Dental Preservation segment. It demands a strong business acumen and a comprehensive understanding of Endodontic and Restorative workflows.

This position oversees the full product portfolio and business operations, ensuring alignment with the COLTENE Group’s global vision and market demands. By leading cross-functional teams—including product managers, junior product managers, and other support functions—the Director ensures profitable growth, innovation, and operational excellence across the unit, while fostering strong relationships with key customers, industry partners, and stakeholders. They own the complete product lifecycle from ideation to phase-out, bearing overall accountability for the success of their product segment globally.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree in Engineering, Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in business management or leadership roles within the dental, medical device, or healthcare industry, including at least 5 years in a senior management capacity.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in dental manufacturing or related regulated industries is essential.
  • Strong Business Acumen: Proven ability to manage product development and lifecycle for Endodontic and Restorative products, with experience collaborating closely with dental professionals.
  • Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies, manage P&L responsibilities, and drive organizational growth.
  • Financial Acumen: Robust financial, analytical, and budgeting skills, with a proven track record in managing budgets and forecasting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to lead diverse teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction & Execution: Define and implement the overall strategy for the business unit, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market opportunities.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgets, product margins, and financial targets through effective resource allocation and cost management.
  • Portfolio Management: Lead the management of the product portfolio, optimizing product performance, market positioning, and revenue growth.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and customer insights to guide strategic decision-making and identify new business opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with R&D, marketing, sales, manufacturing, operations, and regulatory teams to enhance product and business performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers, distributors, industry influencers, and internal leadership.
  • Innovation & Process Improvement: Champion continuous improvement and innovation initiatives to drive new product development and integration of emerging technologies.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient operations by streamlining processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Talent Management: Mentor and develop team members, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional growth.
  • Sales & Marketing Alignment: Collaborate with sales and marketing leaders to craft go-to-market strategies, ensuring effective product launches and market penetration.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring sustainable operations and business continuity.
  • Reporting & Strategic Insight: Provide regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to the leadership team, facilitating informed decision-making.
