Job Description Summary
The Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Area, Commercial and Launch Strategy International, is responsible for managing the vision and strategy for key assets. In collaboration with the Cardiovascular Disease Area Brand Team, this role prioritizes initiatives for major products across important geographies and ensures effective execution of our brand strategy to maximize patient access, achieve commercial success, and support lifecycle management (LCM) in the context of loss of exclusivity (LoE) extension in key markets.
The incumbent will focus on top countries and regions as defined in the I-R-C model and will work closely with the Value & Access team (V&A), International Medical Affairs (IMA), and Customer & Market Activation to develop optimal strategies for further accelerating Novartis's leadership in cardiovascular diseases, with a strong emphasis on atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).
Major Accountabilities
- Co-own the strategy and performance in top markets and regions to prioritize strategic drivers and create international strategies and tactics.
- Contribute and refine a relevant and actionable fit-for-purpose plan as part of the One Brand Plan, in collaboration with CRM ED.
- Assess and refine relevant and actionable plans and initiatives as part of commercialization and LCM over time.
- Facilitate cross-functional decisions for international and above-brand strategic initiatives.
- Represent products in cross-functional forums.
- Monitor key market performance, events, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic updates and tactics.
- Drive delivery of brand strategic objectives, customer target segments, Go-To-Market (GTM) principles, global initiatives, and significant investments.
- Enable close partnership with Customer & Market Activation, Business Operations, International Medical Affairs, International Value & Access, Corporate functions, and Global Drug Development (GDD) by fostering deep cross-functional understanding, communication, planning, and implementation.
- Manage brand investments to ensure adherence to the allocated budget.
- Actively contribute to the development of a high-performance team as part of the CVi DA Team and build effective, long-lasting business relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Monitor the evolving cardiovascular environment from scientific and policy/access perspectives.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience across functions, including sales, marketing, commercial strategy, medical affairs, and value & access. Experience in cardiovascular is a plus.
- Experience working directly or indirectly with the Top 10 International markets, especially Germany, China, and Japan.
- Excellent communication skills and experience engaging with senior management.
- Demonstrated capability in cross-functional stakeholder management and navigating complexity.
- Country-specific experience with the ability to deliver immediate impact with key stakeholders.
- Proven track record of successfully owning and driving the commercialization of an asset throughout its lifecycle, from early development to post-launch and mature brands.
