The Director of Brand at On defines the long-range vision for marketing for one of the two pillars of our business—PAD or Performance. Collaborating with various teams, including product vertical leads and commercial leads, this role encompasses the strategic execution of a compelling brand vision. In the context of the Director of Brand for PAD (lifestyle), this vision focuses on enhancing our overall performance within the lifestyle sector. It addresses key questions such as: how do we successfully go-to-market in lifestyle to increase awareness, cultural relevance, credibility, and sales? How do we strategically plan for long-term growth in collaboration with product, merchandising, and sales teams? This involves leveraging core PAD franchises—like the Cloud—developing lifestyle products from our performance sports range, such as tennis lifestyle products, and utilizing partnership-led initiatives, exemplified by our collaboration with Zendaya.

You will serve as the architect of the long-term brand growth vision for the PAD business.

Your Team

As part of the brand strategy team at On, you will define the significance of this role within the organization while shaping our products and initiatives. This position requires both leadership and collaboration, working cross-functionally with marketing, product, commercial teams, and more. You will lead a team of two brand heads, focusing on training/kids and special projects (partnerships).

In your capacity as the leader of our PAD/lifestyle business within the marketing team, your personal knowledge and experience in the category will be crucial. We seek someone who understands the nuances of diverse lifestyle consumers, is detail-oriented regarding the latest brand collaborations, and analyzes emerging footwear styles thoughtfully.

Your Mission

  • Set the Vision: Define not only our desired outcomes but also the strategic paths we will take to reach them through comprehensive 3-year plans that align product, marketing, and commercial interests. This collaborative effort will involve partnerships with product, brand strategists, and the commercial team, necessitating detailed architecture. To ensure organizational buy-in, you will align senior leadership and regional teams around your vision.
  • Drive Marketing Excellence: Serve as the voice of the brand, business, and consumer in evaluations, identifying potential successes and areas for improvement. This role demands collaboration with the creative studio and brand strategy teams to enhance our initiatives.
  • Report to Evolve: We aim to measure our performance not only to understand but to evolve. In our fast-growing brand environment, how can we leverage analytics to pinpoint new opportunities and disregard less promising ones? How will insights allow us to adapt our go-to-market strategies, improve creative output, and forge new consumer connections? Additionally, how do we create value for marketing, commercial, and product teams alike?

We'd Love to Hear From People With:

  • 12+ years of brand marketing experience on both brand and agency sides, with a focus on global consumer brands in sportswear, fashion, or related industries. A minimum of 5 years in a managerial role is required.
  • Proven experience leading long-term vision setting within a sportswear or fashion brand.
  • Multiple years of experience collaborating with product teams to develop long-term marketing plans.
  • A higher education degree (bachelor or higher) in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience running diverse marketing programs and campaigns that successfully scaled globally and across channels.
  • A solid understanding of the premium lifestyle, sportswear, and training market, and its corresponding opportunities.
  • A curious personality that challenges the status quo, driven by a passion for innovation and a keen interest in new media activations that resonate with our target consumers.
  • A strategic mindset balanced with an entrepreneurial approach.
  • A growth mindset that recognizes the brand's role in commercial success and vice versa.
  • The confidence to think independently and present your vision to the broader organization, especially to senior management.
  • An understanding of youth culture and its dynamics.
  • A strong belief that challenges often present new opportunities.
  • Excellent presentation skills and comfort in public speaking, able to articulate your category vision to larger audiences.
