Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead the FIS product "Cortex" in the local Swiss market from our Zurich office.
About the Role
As a Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the way the world pays, banks, and invests. You’ll be responsible for planning and managing application development and client delivery activities, handling everything from simple software applications to complex software components.
About the Team
Our Professional Services team for Retail Payments in Europe implements our payment solution, "Cortex," which supports card issuing, authorizing, and POS and ATM acquiring in conjunction with our other software solutions. We work closely with customers to gather requirements, design solutions, and provide software implementation support, both onsite and remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development: Conduct software design, debugging, and provide beta support to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Customer Support: Provide support to clients across Europe during working hours and beyond, ensuring service continuity and effective issue resolution.
- Client Engagement: Travel to client sites for software implementation and support, as dictated by business needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Test Analysts, Customer Support Technicians, and the Release Management Team to deliver robust software solutions.
- Technical Leadership: Participate in the design and development of applications while guiding your team through the full software development lifecycle.
- Infrastructure Coordination: Work with internal service groups to acquire, maintain, and manage development infrastructure, ensuring systems are current and aligned with technology standards.
- Strategic Planning: Identify software and hardware requirements to support development in line with FIS core practices.
- Managing Resources: Oversee recruitment, performance evaluations, and the transitions of team members (hiring and offboarding).
- Resource Planning: Identify, allocate, and forecast technical resource requirements to meet project demands and business needs.
Qualifications
- Extensive Industry Experience: At least 10 years in software management within Retail Payment Solutions, with deep knowledge of the FIS Cortex and the Swiss card and payments industry.
- Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written abilities, with proven experience leading teams under pressure and engaging with executive-level clients.
- Team Leadership Experience: 4+ years managing small to medium-sized FIS Cortex teams involved in software development and support.
- Customer Support Expertise: Hands-on experience addressing production incidents, including online and offline troubleshooting of FIS Cortex.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Experience with medium to large-scale software solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and IBM AIX Power Systems.
- Proficient in technologies such as Unix C development with Oracle BEA Tuxedo, embedded SQL for Informix and Oracle, and scripting languages (Perl and Bash).
- Database expertise in Oracle and Informix RDBMS, with strong schema design and maintenance skills; experience with Oracle Golden Gate for data migration.
- Business Analysis Skills: Ability to assess client needs and determine effective support strategies for FIS Cortex.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Expertise: Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Agile Methodology Experience: Certification and hands-on experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
- Process Automation Skills: Proven track record in implementing development process automation in software engineering environments.
- Requirements Engineering: Strong background in gathering business requirements and drafting detailed specifications.
