Join Our Team as a Development Engineer - Mechanical Integrity (m/f)

As one of the world’s leading players in the field of power generation plants and components, Ansaldo Energia is a full-cycle integrated operator. We possess the capabilities to build turnkey power plants on greenfield sites, utilizing our own technology along with independent design, production, construction, commissioning, and service resources.

We are currently seeking to strengthen our team in Baden, Switzerland, with your expertise and experience.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical integrity solutions and lifetime predictions for gas turbine structural parts, including rotors and casings.
  • Collaborate closely with other functional gas turbine teams, such as Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer, Clearance, Design, Manufacturing, and Lifetime Extension, to ensure that parts meet both static and dynamic criteria.
  • Issue and review technical reports and prepare materials for design reviews.
  • Capture lessons learned and integrate field feedback into design processes.
  • Support manufacturing process development by offering technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with Quality and design teams on nonconformity resolutions.
  • Conduct failure analysis and provide technical feedback based on field operation findings.
  • Issue Lifetime Extension specifications.
  • Prepare and support tests and validations for materials, parts, spin pits, and engines.

Your Profile

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in rotor structural assessments.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art 3D finite element modeling, ideally using ANSYS.
  • Strong knowledge of thermal/structural mechanics, rotor and structural dynamics, and materials physics.
  • Understanding of gas and steam turbine fundamentals.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Italian and/or German is a plus.
  • An open-minded, analytical, and target-oriented team player who thrives in a multicultural environment.
  • A creative, thorough, and independent individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time, globally.
