About the Role

Join the Turbine Development department within the gas turbine business in Baden, Switzerland, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Ansaldo Energia products.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical integrity solutions and lifetime predictions for gas turbine structural parts, rotors, and casings.
  • Collaborate closely with other functional gas turbine teams, including Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer, Clearance, Design, Manufacturing, and Lifetime Extension, to ensure parts meet static and dynamic criteria.
  • Issue and review technical reports and prepare design review materials.
  • Capture lessons learned and incorporate field feedback into the design process.
  • Assist in manufacturing process development by providing technical expertise.
  • Resolve nonconformities in collaboration with Quality and design teams.
  • Conduct failure analyses and provide technical feedback based on findings from field operations.
  • Issue Lifetime Extension specifications and support the preparation of material, part, spin pit, and engine tests and validations.

Your Profile

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in rotor structural assessments.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art 3D finite element modeling (ideally ANSYS).
  • Sound knowledge of thermal/structural mechanics, rotor and structural dynamics, and material physics.
  • Understanding of gas and steam turbine fundamentals.
  • Fluency in English; Italian and/or German language skills are a plus.
  • An open-minded, analytical, and target-oriented team player capable of working in a multicultural environment.
  • Creative, thorough, and independent, with strong communication skills.
  • Availability to travel 15% of the time, worldwide.
