Join Our Team as a Development Engineer - Mechanical Integrity (m/f)

We have the capabilities to build turnkey power plants on greenfield sites, utilizing our own technology along with independent design, production, construction, commissioning, and service resources.

Strengthen our team in Baden, Switzerland, with your expertise and experience in the Turbine Development department within our gas turbine business. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Ansaldo Energia products.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical integrity solutions and lifetime predictions for gas turbine blades and vanes.
  • Collaborate closely with functional turbine teams including Aerodynamics, Cooling, Design, Manufacturing, and Reconditioning to ensure parts meet both static and dynamic criteria.
  • Prepare, issue, and review technical reports along with design review materials.
  • Capture lessons learned and ensure the integration of field feedback into the design process.
  • Support manufacturing process development through technical expertise.
  • Coordinate nonconformity resolutions in collaboration with Quality and design teams.
  • Conduct failure analyses and provide technical insights based on field operation findings.
  • Develop reconditioning specifications.
  • Prepare and support material, part, spin pit, and engine tests and validations.

Your Profile

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or a related qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in designing high-temperature components.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art 3D finite element modeling (ideally ANSYS).
  • Strong knowledge of thermal/structural mechanics, blade dynamics, and materials physics.
  • Understanding of gas and steam turbine fundamentals.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Italian and/or German is a plus.
  • Open-minded, analytical, and target-oriented team player, skilled in a multicultural environment.
  • Creative, thorough, and independent with excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time, globally.
