Development Engineer

Roche Schweiz bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. Important research and development functions are located here. For our long-standing client, Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz, we are looking for a talented Development Engineer.

Background:

We are part of R&D Near Patient Care System Development & Integration, the architects of ready-to-use IVD systems for near-patient testing. Utilizing our blood gas analysis technology, healthcare professionals can make critical decisions for patients in urgent situations—whether in the emergency room, the intensive care unit, or the operating room.

Help create the future of blood gas analysis! You will join our workflow development and system integration team, contributing to the design and enhancement of new instrument prototypes.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize fluid control workflows for our new analyzer.
  • Investigate technical issues related to the control of blood and calibration fluids, proposing design improvements.
  • Create data analysis tools to evaluate the performance of the new system.
  • Design experiments to assess specific aspects of system performance.
  • Get prototype analyzers operational in our blood labs.

Must Haves:

  • A MSc degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanics, Fluidics, etc.).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the industry or in research, or proven experience in workflow development of blood gas analyzers.
  • Ability to understand complex system interactions.
  • Proficient in Python programming and analysis of complex data (required); experience with C++ is a plus.
  • Experience in systems engineering.
  • Skilled in creating structured documentation and detailed investigation reports.
  • Persistent in identifying root causes of technical issues, committed to resolving them collaboratively with engineers and scientists.
  • Self-reliant and effective in networking to gain support for your work.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Nice to Haves:

  • Proficiency in German.
