Roche Schweiz bridges the gap between pharmacy and diagnostics, hosting critical research and development functions. We are currently seeking a talented Development Engineer Manufacturing Processes for our esteemed client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, located in Rotkreuz.

Roche Diagnostics International Ltd in Rotkreuz is recognized as one of the world’s leading providers of diagnostic system solutions tailored for clinics, laboratories, and physicians. With over 2,200 dedicated employees at this key Roche Diagnostics site, the company specializes in Near-Patient-Care BGE systems, which facilitate the measurement of blood gases, electrolytes, and metabolites in human blood samples. Within our R&D chapter "BGE Sensors Reagents & Processes," we focus on creating innovative sensor cartridge designs, along with the corresponding manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will come with professional experience in industrial R&D or a manufacturing environment, preferably within the medical device sector or another regulated industry. Essential technical skills include:

  • Expertise in establishing and managing data pipelines (ETL) from diverse sources such as SQL databases, CSVs, and machine logs.
  • Ability to develop interactive dashboards and visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of applied statistics, including correlation and cluster analysis, to effectively support development teams.

Additional advantages will be offered to candidates skilled in digital image processing, proficient in object-oriented programming (OOP) using Python, and knowledgeable in SQL.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of engineers to develop and enhance designs and manufacturing processes for thick film sensors.
  • Improve and maintain the data infrastructure and pipeline for production and process control data from various sources to ensure timely data availability.
  • Act as a technical interface between R&D and Production, as well as among various R&D departments, to streamline data handling and harmonize standards.
  • Enhance and maintain data visualization tools (dashboards, interactive charts) while supporting routine data analyses.
  • Assist in defining and refining image analysis methods and tools to extract quantitative feature values from images.
  • Extend the data infrastructure to include additional information, such as sensor performance characterization.
  • Drive data-driven enhancements of manufacturing processes.

Must Haves:

  • Completed technical training in process engineering, data science, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in industrial R&D or a manufacturing environment, ideally within the medical device industry or a comparable regulated setting.
  • Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL processes) from various sources such as SQL databases, CSV files, and machine log files.
  • Capability to create interactive dashboards and visualization tools, with a solid understanding of applied statistics (e.g., correlation analysis, cluster analysis) to support development teams.
  • Skills in digital image processing, object-oriented programming (OOP) in Python, and SQL knowledge are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • A meticulous and thorough approach to work and documentation.
