Background:

Roche Diagnostics International Ltd in Rotkreuz is one of the world's leading providers of diagnostic system solutions for clinics, laboratories, and doctors' offices. The company employs over 2,200 people in Rotkreuz and is a primary site for Roche Diagnostics. Our focus lies on Near-Patient-Care BGE systems for the measurement of blood gases, electrolytes, and metabolites in human blood samples. Within our R&D chapter "BGE Sensors Reagents & Processes," we are dedicated to developing innovative sensor cartridge designs and their associated manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will possess professional experience from industrial R&D or a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for backgrounds in the medical device sector or a comparable regulated industry. Essential technical skills include expertise in establishing and managing data pipelines (ETL) from various sources like SQL databases, CSV files, and machine logs, along with the ability to develop interactive dashboards and visualization tools. A solid understanding of applied statistics, including correlation and cluster analysis, is necessary for effectively supporting development teams. Candidates with skills in digital image processing, proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP) with Python, and knowledge of SQL will have a significant advantage.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of engineers to develop and enhance designs and manufacturing processes for thick film sensors.
  • Improve and maintain the data infrastructure and pipelines for production and process control data from various sources, ensuring timely data availability.
  • Act as a technical liaison between R&D and Production, as well as between different R&D departments, to harmonize data handling and standards.
  • Enhance and maintain data visualization tools (dashboards, interactive charts) while assisting with routine data analysis.
  • Contribute to defining and refining image analysis methods and tools for deriving quantitative feature values from images.
  • Extend the data infrastructure with additional information, such as sensor performance characterization.
  • Drive data-inspired improvements in manufacturing processes.

Must Haves:

  • Completed technical training in process engineering, data science, bioinformatics, or a similar field.
  • Professional experience in an industrial R&D or manufacturing setting, ideally within the medical device industry or a comparable regulated environment.
  • Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL processes) from diverse sources such as SQL databases, CSV files, and machine log files.
  • Ability to create interactive dashboards and visualization tools, alongside a solid understanding of applied statistics (e.g., correlation and cluster analysis) to support development teams.
  • Skills in digital image processing, object-oriented programming (OOP) in Python, and knowledge of SQL are a strong advantage.
  • Good communication skills in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
