Your Mission
Job Description
- Collector Concepts Development: Contribute to the design and development of new CO₂ collector system architectures, translating sorbent and process requirements into practical, manufacturable equipment. Support the creation of innovative concepts and help realize them through engineering design.
- Prototyping & Testing: Take a hands-on role in prototyping and testing collector concepts and subsystems. Design and execute experiments to validate performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize designs for reliability and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sorbent scientists, process engineers, and mechanical designers to ensure seamless integration of materials and processes into collector systems. Aid in the scale-up of technologies from laboratory to pilot and industrial scale.
- Engineering & Industrialisation Support: Assist in transitioning from concept to manufacturable product, contributing to detailed design, design-for-manufacture, and compliance. Collaborate with the Industrialisation team to ensure robust implementation of new technologies.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Document designs, test results, and learnings to support knowledge sharing and accelerate development cycles. Actively contribute to improving engineering processes and practices.
Your Story
Requirements
- Education & Experience: A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field, along with 2–5 years of experience in equipment development, ideally involving thermal systems, vacuum, or steam processes.
- Hands-On Innovation: Experience building and testing lab-scale or pilot-scale hardware, enjoying to solve engineering challenges and iterating quickly to enhance designs.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks), with a good understanding of mechanical design, prototyping, and testing. Familiarity with sorbents, adsorption/desorption processes, or thermal separation technologies is an advantage.
- Teamwork & Communication: Thrive in multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating effective communication across functions with a proactive mindset and a collaborative spirit.

Salary Information
At Climeworks, salary ranges are determined based on job level and the market median for similar roles in your location, as established through external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation will reflect your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.
Formalities
This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, and we require you to work on-site at least three days a week. The percentage in the job title indicates flexibility—please select between full-time or part-time based on your personal needs.
