How You Can Make a Difference

In this role, you will be responsible for designing clinician-facing workflows and interfaces that are intuitive, efficient, safe, and compliant with regulatory standards for medical devices (e.g., FDA, IEC 62366). You will work closely with product managers, clinical experts, software engineers, and regulatory professionals to ensure that usability and human factors are integral to our product development process.

  • Conduct user research and contextual inquiries with ICU staff, nurses, and respiratory therapists.
  • Design and iterate wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications.
  • Translate clinical workflows into safe and efficient UI interactions.
  • Drive usability and human factors engineering activities in accordance with IEC 62366 / FDA guidance.
  • Lead formative and summative usability testing and document the findings.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and QA teams to generate Human Factors Engineering (HFE) documentation for 510(k) submission.
  • Contribute to the design system for consistency across applications.
  • Work with developers to ensure accurate implementation of design intent.

What You Bring Along

  • 5+ years of UX design experience, preferably in healthcare or regulated environments.
  • Experience designing clinician-facing or medical device interfaces.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing interaction design work, particularly for complex systems.
  • Knowledge of human factors engineering standards (IEC 62366, FDA HFE guidance).
  • Experience with usability testing and risk-based design.
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Further Qualifications That Would Be an Advantage

  • Background in cognitive psychology, HCI, or industrial design.
  • Experience with Class II or III medical device software.
  • Familiarity with QMS integration for design outputs.
  • Exposure to ICU or critical care environments (including shadowing experiences).

This position is available at our locations in Domat/Ems or Rapperswil.
