Your Impact

In this pivotal role, you will design clinician-facing workflows and interfaces that are not only intuitive and efficient but also safe and compliant with regulatory standards for medical devices such as FDA and IEC 62366. You will collaborate closely with product managers, clinical experts, software engineers, and regulatory professionals to ensure usability and human factors are paramount in our product development process.

  • Conduct user research and contextual inquiries with ICU staff, nurses, and respiratory therapists.
  • Design and iterate wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications.
  • Translate clinical workflows into safe and efficient UI interactions.
  • Drive usability and human factors engineering activities per IEC 62366 / FDA guidance.
  • Lead formative and summative usability testing and document findings.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and QA teams to generate Human Factors Engineering (HFE) documentation for 510(k) submission.
  • Contribute to design consistency across applications.
  • Work with developers to ensure accurate implementation of design intent.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

  • 5+ years of UX design experience, preferably in healthcare or regulated environments.
  • Experience designing clinician-facing or medical device interfaces.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing interaction design work, particularly for complex systems.
  • Knowledge of human factors engineering standards (IEC 62366, FDA HFE guidance).
  • Experience with usability testing and risk-based design.
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Background in cognitive psychology, HCI, or industrial design.
  • Experience with Class II or III medical device software.
  • Familiarity with QMS integration for design outputs.
  • Exposure to ICU or critical care environments (even shadowing experience).

Work Locations

This position is available at our facilities in Domat/Ems or Rapperswil.
