Engineering Solutions

You will provide technical leadership and expertise in the industrialization of mechanical components and systems, transforming concepts into integrated, robust, and reliable industrial equipment products. Your role involves delivering innovative engineering solutions that ensure proper validation and enable scalable, high-quality manufacturing and serial production.

Product Design & CAD

As a technical leader, you will create and optimize product designs using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) to develop integrated systems, component assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings. You will ensure the full technical readiness of products according to the development plan.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership

You will work closely with cross-functional teams and act as the expert for mechanical design, component integration, and manufacturability. Your responsibilities will include mentoring less experienced engineers, providing technical guidance in decision-making, and managing external design resources to ensure their efficient integration into the development process.

Quality Assurance & Technical Readiness

Your focus will be to ensure the technical correctness and completeness of designs, from specifications to manufacturing drawings and bills of materials, with strong compliance to organizational and industrial standards.

Approval of Technical Documentation

You will take full ownership as the approval authority for technical product documentation, including the review and approval of engineering drawings and corresponding bills of materials. Leading design review presentations, you will uphold high standards to ensure accurate, traceable, and audit-ready development documentation that supports compliance and continuous product improvement.

Prototype Development & Testing

You will define validation units, coordinate their fabrication, and actively participate in testing activities, ensuring that all test findings contribute to product improvements.

Requirements

  • Education & Engineering Expertise: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with extensive expertise in engineering fundamentals and complex system development.
  • Advanced Mechanical Engineering Application: Proven ability to apply advanced engineering principles, development methodologies, and analytical techniques to design large industrial equipment components.
  • Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Knowledge: Over 12 years of experience designing mechanical components for industrial machinery, complemented by expert metal and sheet metal design skills and strong knowledge of key manufacturing processes, including proficiency in DFMA, material selection, and regulatory compliance.
  • CAD Proficiency & Technical Skills: Proficient in designing mechanical components using CAD and creating high-quality technical drawings, experienced in applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing chains.
  • Attention to Detail & Problem-Solving: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for problem-solving and creative engineering.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Effective communication in English, confident collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a desire to mentor less experienced engineers. Salary

At Climeworks, salary ranges are determined based on job seniority and the market median for similar positions according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation will depend on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.

Formalities

This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, and we require onsite work for at least three days per week. The percentage in the job title signifies flexibility, allowing you to choose between full-time or part-time work based on your needs.
