Deputy Housemaster / Deputy Housemistress

Collège Alpin Beau-Soleil SA - February 12, 2026

YOUR PROFILE

Step into a role where each day brings connection, challenge, and the opportunity to shape lives. At Collège Beau Soleil, boarding is not just a place to sleep; it’s where friendships are forged, confidence blooms, and unforgettable moments are created.

As Deputy Housemaster / Deputy Housemistress, you will work closely with the Housemaster or Housemistress to help lead a home built on warmth, structure, and purpose. You will set the tone for daily life, offering guidance, encouragement, and care—whether during morning routines, weekend activities, or quiet evening check-ins.

In the absence of the Housemaster or Housemistress, you will ensure the smooth running of the house, making certain that every student in your care feels heard, respected, and empowered.

This is a deeply people-focused role that allows you to act as a mentor, role model, and steady presence during a formative chapter in young people’s lives—socially, personally, and emotionally. This position combines pastoral leadership with a reduced teaching timetable and active involvement in the co-curricular life of the school, ranging from creative projects to alpine adventures.

We are seeking an empathetic, committed, and collaborative professional who thrives in a boarding environment and is passionate about guiding young people to become confident, kind, and resilient individuals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following outlines the main tasks and scope of the role. These are not exhaustive and may vary to accommodate the skill set of the post holder and the needs of the school:

  • Support the Housemaster / Housemistress in taking responsibility for the pastoral care of students in their house, step in during their absence, and play a significant role in the daily operations of the house.
  • Foster strong relationships within the house based on trust and respect.
  • Build strong connections with the parents of students, proactively communicating with them through the Housemaster / Housemistress.
  • Gain valuable experience and skills that will facilitate a future career in boarding education.
  • Develop and share effective practices based on your skills and experiences.
  • Promote the broader aspirations and values of the school.
  • Teach a limited timetable.
  • Support the life of the school beyond the classroom, actively participating in weekend activities and joining residential weeks and other trips as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified to degree level.
  • Teaching or other professional qualifications are desirable.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record with teaching and boarding experience.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Ability to inspire and develop both students and staff.
  • Full of resilience, energy, and perseverance.
  • Kind, approachable, and empathetic, with the flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
  • Passionate about education, learning, and continuous professional development.
  • Excellent communicator with strong organisational and management skills.
  • A clear understanding of the dynamic, demanding environment of an international boarding school.
  • Ambitious—for themselves, their students, and their team.
  • Ready to take on responsibility and lead with integrity.
  • And… as anyone who has ever worked in boarding knows… a good sense of humour is essential!
