Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide holistic, evidence-based care in a positive, person-centred manner for a private individual. The client's needs include a dementia diagnosis, age-related frailties, and potential health co-morbidities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, develop, and implement individual care programmes; provide advice and maintain associated records, either manually or digitally.
- Carry out nursing procedures in alignment with clinical guidelines.
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff members.
- Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of team members to promote best practices related to dementia care.
- In the absence of the team leader, ensure the effective delivery of care to the client and raise any concerns with the line manager.
Qualifications / Essential Requirements
- Swiss or EU passport (or holder of a Swiss working permit).
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent.
- Completion of Best Practice in Dementia Training or a willingness to undertake this training.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behaviour assessment.
- Willingness to develop dementia knowledge as part of CPD, either independently or through organizational support.
- Experience in End of Life Care and the ability to develop relevant clinical skills to address any emerging co-morbidities.
Qualifications / Additional Requirements
- Moving and Handling Trainer.
- Beauty or Massage Therapy qualifications.
- Experience in delivering Meaningful Activities.
Language / Essential
- Effective communication in English; ideally, English should be the first language.
- Excellent written communication skills in English.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals with dementia.
Personal Skills and Abilities
- Excellent teamwork and the ability to work independently.
- Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with people and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong time management skills.
- Familiarity with basic technology.
- Teaching skills for junior staff, families, and other professionals.
- Female candidates are preferred for this role.
Specific Job Requirements
- Commitment to a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK, and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Willingness to travel with the client within the UK.
- Ability to work unsociable hours, including a sleepover arrangement alternating nights with other staff.
- Conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to the client’s social standing.
- Maintain confidentiality per NMC requirements and organizational standards; a confidentiality agreement will be provided separately.
- Understanding the local culture and the familial context surrounding dementia care to minimize stress and distress for the client.
- Housekeeping responsibilities are a key aspect of this position.
