Data Scientist

Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Temporary R&D Data Scientist to join the innovative team and provide crucial support during a maternity leave.
Background:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and leveraging the unique data integration platform, supporting ongoing AI model development, and ensuring the seamless continuation of our R&D data workflows. This is a hands-on role for a data scientist who can quickly get up to speed on complex projects and contribute to the team's success from day one.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Maintain Data Integration Tools: Manage and troubleshoot our existing data integration pipelines that feed our AI models, ensuring data quality and availability.
- Support AI Development: Collaborate with the R&D team to assist in the ongoing training, validation, and optimization of machine learning and AI models.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Perform data analysis to extract insights, support research questions, and provide clear reports to the team.
- Troubleshoot & Problem-Solve: Address technical challenges related to data access, software limitations, and model performance.
- Ensure Project Continuity: Work closely with the existing team to ensure all project timelines and deliverables are met during the contract period.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of processes and any modifications made to existing systems.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in a data science or data analytics role.
- Strong proficiency in Python and its scientific computing libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
- Experience with SQL and working with relational databases.
- Familiarity with the principles of ETL and experience with data pipeline management.
- A foundational understanding of machine learning concepts and models.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a technical team.
- Familiarity with FAIR data principles.
- Experience with image analysis techniques.
