Data Scientist
Roche Switzerland is at the forefront of bridging the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, with essential research and development functions located in Basel. We are currently seeking a talented and proactive Data Scientist to join our long-term client, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG.
Background:
The ideal candidate will serve as a Temporary R&D Data Scientist, providing critical support during a maternity leave. This hands-on role requires a data scientist who can quickly acclimatize to complex projects and contribute to the team's success from day one. Key responsibilities include maintaining our unique data integration platform, supporting ongoing AI model development, and ensuring seamless R&D data workflows.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Maintain Data Integration Tools: Manage and troubleshoot our existing data integration pipelines that feed our AI models, ensuring data quality and availability.
- Support AI Development: Collaborate with the R&D team on the training, validation, and optimization of machine learning and AI models.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Conduct data analysis to extract insights, support research objectives, and provide clear reports to the team.
- Troubleshoot & Problem-Solve: Resolve technical challenges related to data access, software limitations, and model performance.
- Ensure Project Continuity: Work closely with the existing team to meet all project timelines and deliverables during the contract period.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of processes and any modifications made to existing systems.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in a data science or data analytics role.
- Strong proficiency in Python and its scientific computing libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with ETL principles and data pipeline management.
- A foundational understanding of machine learning concepts and models.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a technical team.
- Familiarity with FAIR data principles.
- Experience with image analysis techniques.
