Job Description
We are seeking a Data Architect to join our team in Zurich. In this role, you will design and implement robust data architectures that support our real estate data services, ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, and domain experts, to centralize data from multiple internal and external sources, enhance data documentation practices, and integrate diverse data types, including spatial data.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture & Modeling: Design scalable data models for real estate data, encompassing transactions, financial data, and geospatial information.
- Data Strategy & Cloud Architecture: Drive the evolution of the company’s data strategy by defining future-proof data architectures, including planning and executing a scalable cloud migration roadmap.
- Database Management: Oversee Microsoft SQL Server databases, with a focus on indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
- ETL & Data Pipelines: Optimize and standardize existing ETL processes using Apache Airflow and dbt to ensure efficient data integration and transformation.
- Data Provisioning & Visualization: Support optimal data provisioning and integration from various enterprise systems such as Jira, Salesforce, and Abacus to enable data-driven decision-making through Apache Superset dashboards.
- Data Governance: Implement best practices for data documentation, lineage tracking, and metadata management to enhance data quality and accessibility.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data architecture, data engineering, or a related role, ideally within the real estate sector. A proven track record of working through one or two full product lifecycles for large-scale solutions.
Technical Proficiency
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and database optimization techniques.
- Strong expertise in cloud-based data architecture and processes, including the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable cloud data solutions.
- Experience with ETL tools, particularly Apache Airflow, and data transformation tools like dbt.
- Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Docker, TeamCity, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions) for data workflows.
- Good understanding of data quality, observability, and governance frameworks, including lineage tracking, testing (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt), and documentation.
- Preferred: Experience in the financial services industry; familiarity with GIS and spatial data management; and a foundational understanding of Machine Learning concepts and AI tools. Certifications in cloud platforms or enterprise architecture are considered a strong asset.
