Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Manage the coordination of civil work packages, including subcontractor onboarding, EHS, QAQC, schedule management, design, and handover.
  • Oversee site safety alongside contractors, project managers, and Mercury safety advisors, ensuring proper setup, management, and closure of subcontractor files.
  • Manage Site QA in collaboration with contractors, Mercury project managers, and QAQC leads, including setup and closure of subcontractor files.
  • Oversee project scheduling in conjunction with contractors, site planners, project managers, and consulting engineers/architects according to Mercury Engineering and client requirements.
  • Handle all commercial aspects associated with the package, supported by the project QS, including:
    • Labour
    • Material
    • Plant and Equipment
    • Variations
    • Valuations
  • Manage daily site operations.
  • Support engineering requirements by liaising with key project stakeholders (Client design team, Main contractor, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, etc.).
  • Ensure works are installed per project specifications and the QA plan (e.g., pre-agreed benchmarks).
  • Assist the installation team in managing quality requirements on-site, providing guidance to ensure compliance with all relevant standards, codes, and specifications. This includes all activities related to validation and handover to the client.
  • Familiarize yourself with design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the project scope. Oversee the coordination process to convert design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring spec compliance and adherence to schedule priority.
  • Manage subcontractor activities, tracking progress against schedules and staffing levels, conducting weekly minuted meetings with subcontractors.
  • Maintain up-to-date subcontractor documentation, including safety records, for future reference.
  • Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning, and coordination meetings, as well as handover meetings.
  • Assist the wider team in closing out all project deliverables, including final accounts, O&M manuals, punch lists, safety files, QA files, material and plant relocations, and project planning.
  • Issue regular reports to the Project Manager, highlighting progress percentages based on WBS codes and addressing any concerns, including risks within Mercury's control such as late deliveries.
  • Provide external weekly progress reports to the Project Manager, detailing unavailable areas, delays, design shortages, third-party hold-ups, and completion percentages.
  • Supply weekly safety statistics and project labour projections. Forward direct labour hours and subcontractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking.
  • Prepare subcontract and supplier tender packages in conjunction with the project QS.
  • Assess subcontractor and supplier tender returns for technical compliance with design intent specifications.
  • Conduct weekly commercial meetings with the commercial team to ensure all variations are captured and costs communicated to the client.
  • Develop and implement company procedures in collaboration with project managers.
  • Ensure change management is correctly implemented (Cost & Programme).
  • Review drawings and setting out details.
  • Review as-built drawings for services.
  • Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
  • Ensure adherence to Mercury policies and procedures.
  • Develop contractor snag lists and monitor close-out rates to align with project KPIs. Manage the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system, ensuring supervisors submit weekly punch lists as necessary and distribute all snags to subcontractors.
  • Perform all other duties associated with this role.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • 5+ years of experience working with a recognized contractor.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in systems software relevant to engineering functions.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Familiar with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize effectively.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
