Crude Oil & Oil Products Analyst / Trader (Male / Female)

The Role

Pala is seeking a Crude Oil & Oil Products Analyst / Trader to enhance Pala’s research team and Frontier Commodities (Frontier), a liquid commodities investment strategy supported by Pala. This pivotal position is at the core of our growth ambitions, offering the chance to work closely with the strategy’s Portfolio Managers, collaborate with a skilled team of fundamental analysts, and partner with our senior data scientist. The successful candidate will play a key role in generating actionable insights, supporting investment decisions, and influencing the future direction of Frontier.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental research on crude oil and refined products by analyzing refining capacity, inventory levels, geopolitical dynamics, and end-use demand trends.
• Develop and maintain supply/demand models, price forecasts, and scenario analyses for key oil products.
• Monitor and interpret macroeconomic, geopolitical, and industrial trends impacting oil and oil products, while developing the macro outlook in collaboration with the research team.
• Generate and execute trade ideas by recommending medium- and long-term strategies with a 0-3 month and 3-6 month outlook in cooperation with trading and portfolio management teams.
• Prepare and deliver regular research reports, dashboards, and briefings.
• Support fund marketing efforts by preparing investment material and correspondence, engaging with key investors, and participating in industry events.
• Serve as a role model for accountability and teamwork for junior team members.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will possess:

• At least five years of experience in oil market analysis, oil trading, or related roles (e.g., hedge fund, trading house, consultancy, oil company).
• A deep understanding of oil fundamentals, including supply chain dynamics, logistics, and regional nuances.
• Proficiency in building supply/demand models with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including forecasting and data analysis functions.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a strong ability to distill complex data into concise, actionable insights.
• The capability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and constantly evolving environment.
• The ability to document and present results clearly and coherently, in both written and verbal forms.
