The Rare Blood Disorders (RBD) portfolio is our largest focus area within Rare Disease, encompassing five launched brands and several pipeline assets across three key therapeutic areas: Rare Bleeding Disorders (Hemophilia), Hemoglobinopathies (Sickle Cell), and Hemato-Renal. Our Rare Blood Disorders team comprises approximately 15 highly qualified professionals across two teams based in Zurich.

The Position

As the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of Rare Blood Disorders, reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Rare Disease, you will play a pivotal role in the area's leadership team. Your primary responsibility will be to maximize the commercial value of the Rare Blood Disorders franchise, which is on the verge of several upcoming global launches requiring strong collaboration at both regional and affiliate levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and refine the franchise strategy to align with the overall Rare Disease and corporate strategies of Novo Nordisk, collaborating closely with early research, clinical development, and other areas across the value chain.
  • Drive the portfolio to maximize project and product value, ensuring accountability to governance boards for project progress in line with approved objectives and key deliverables.
  • Oversee a small but complex team of 15 highly qualified employees divided into two teams, collaborating cross-functionally with medical, business development, and clinical development teams across the approximately 4,000 professionals involved in Rare Disease at Novo Nordisk.
  • Develop and nurture a high-performing cross-functional organization that supports the Rare Blood Disorders commercial agenda, emphasizing personal development and engagement in alignment with the Novo Nordisk Way.
  • Cultivate relationships and engage with internal and external stakeholders to effectively deploy and execute strategies.
  • Identify and maximize long-term organic growth opportunities while scouting for attractive business development prospects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial roles within a large pharmaceutical company or biotech, with the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in portfolio and therapy area management with substantial oversight of product portfolios at various stages, focusing on successful global and local product launches.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional, matrixed teams and a track record of creating ambitious, high-performing organizations centered on personal development.
  • A solid understanding of the drug development value chain, with experience in medical and scientific disciplines.
  • A demonstrated history of operating across various therapeutic areas, with exposure to rare blood disorders viewed as an asset.
  • A global perspective with a proven ability to collaborate and influence within a complex, matrix organization.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field.
