Role Overview
We are looking to accelerate innovation in the fermentation field by integrating technical expertise in fermentation, volatile compound analysis, and extensive manufacturing experience—specifically within the bean-to-bar chocolate process.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and support R&D projects while creating valuable know-how through conducting trials in the realm of fermentation and the chocolate manufacturing process.
- Plan and prepare trials effectively.
- Conduct and evaluate trials with precision.
- Master analytical measurements.
- Compose research papers for publication as required.
- Scale-up processes from pilot plant to full-scale production.
- Conduct scientific research and contribute to knowledge generation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Food Science.
- PhD in Food Science, focused on fermentation.
- Expertise in analytical techniques for analyzing volatile compounds.
- Essential experience in bean-to-bar chocolate production.
Key Skills
- In-depth knowledge and at least 2-3 years of practical lab-scale fermentation experience, including upstream conditions, formation, biotransformation, and analysis of resultant compounds.
- Strong background in chemistry, biotechnology, and laboratory techniques.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for articulating complex technical information.
- Proficient in data analysis software for processing, interpreting, and visualizing complex datasets.
- Sound understanding of sensory evaluation techniques.
- Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Customer-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Passion for startups and ingredient science.
- Strategic thinker and fast learner.
Language Requirements
- Fluent in English—both written and spoken.
- Proficiency in German is a plus.
Future Development
Flexibility to relocate to other Lindt & Sprüngli production sites in the future is desirable.
