Role Overview

Join us in accelerating innovation in the fermentation field by leveraging your technical expertise in fermentation processes, volatile compound analysis, and comprehensive manufacturing experience from bean to bar.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and support R&D projects, generating knowledge by conducting trials in the field of fermentation across all levels of the chocolate production process:
    • Plan and prepare trials
    • Conduct and evaluate trials
    • Master analytical measurements
    • Write research papers for publication if required
    • Scale up processes from pilot plant to factory
  • Conduct scientific research and contribute to the generation of know-how.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • University Degree in Food Science
  • PhD in Food Science, with a focus on fermentation
  • Expertise in analytical techniques for analyzing volatile compounds
  • Experience in bean-to-bar chocolate production is essential

Desired Skills

  • In-depth knowledge and 2-3 years of practical lab-scale fermentation experience, including upstream conditions, biotransformation, and analysis of resulting compounds.
  • Strong background in chemistry, biotechnology, and laboratory techniques.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for conveying complex technical information.
  • Proficient in data analysis software for processing, interpreting, and visualizing complex datasets.
  • Proficient understanding of sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Customer-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about start-ups and ingredient science.
  • Strategic thinker and fast learner.

Language Requirements

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • German is a plus

Future Development

There is potential for flexibility in relocating to other Lindt & Sprüngli production sites in the future.
