Main Tasks

  • Lead and support R&D projects, generating knowledge through trials in fermentation and throughout all levels of the chocolate manufacturing process.
  • Plan and prepare trials effectively.
  • Conduct and evaluate the trials thoroughly.
  • Master analytical measurements and techniques.
  • Write papers for publication if required.
  • Scale-up production from pilot plant to factory settings.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct scientific research and actively contribute to knowledge generation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • University Degree in Food Science.
  • PhD in Food Science, with a thesis focused on fermentation.
  • Expertise in analytical techniques for analyzing volatile compounds.
  • Experience in bean-to-bar chocolate production is essential.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge and at least 2-3 years of practical lab-scale fermentation experience, including upstream conditions and the formation, biotransformation, and analysis of resulting compounds.
  • Strong background in chemistry, biotechnology, and laboratory techniques.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for conveying complex technical information.
  • Proficient in data analysis software for processing, interpreting, and visualizing complex datasets.
  • Solid understanding of sensory evaluation techniques.
  • Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Customer-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about start-ups and ingredient science.
  • Possess strategic thinking and be a fast learner.

Language Requirements

  • Fluent in English – both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of German is a plus.

Future Development

  • Willingness to relocate to other Lindt & Sprüngli production sites in the future.
