Main Responsibilities
- Lead and support R&D projects by conducting trials in the field of fermentation and all levels of the chocolate manufacturing process.
- Plan and prepare trials.
- Conduct and evaluate trials.
- Master analytical measurements.
- Write research papers for publication as required.
- Scale up processes from pilot plant to factory levels.
- Conduct scientific research and contribute to know-how generation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- University Degree in Food Science.
- PhD in Food Science, with a thesis focused on fermentation.
- Expertise in analytical techniques for analyzing volatile compounds.
- Experience in bean-to-bar chocolate production is essential.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience of at least 2-3 years in lab-scale fermentation, including upstream conditions and the formation, biotransformation, and analysis of resulting compounds.
- Strong background in chemistry, biotechnology, and laboratory techniques.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for conveying complex technical information.
- Proficient in data analysis software for processing, interpreting, and visualizing complex datasets.
- Well-versed in sensory evaluation techniques.
- Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Customer-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Passionate about start-ups and ingredient science.
- Strategic thinker and fast learner.
Language Requirements
- Fluent in English – both written and spoken.
- German is a plus.
Future Development
Flexibility to relocate to other Lindt & Sprüngli production sites in the future is required.
