The Department of Physics (D-PHYS) at ETH Zurich is dedicated to a diverse research agenda and an extensive teaching program. Our focus spans various areas of physics, from the fundamental principles of nature to innovative technologies that benefit society. The Institute of Theoretical Physics is seeking to hire a Coordinator to lead the new continuing education program in quantum science. This appointment is expected to be at a 60% full-time equivalent.

Project Background

The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Quantum Science at ETH Zurich is designed to provide digital technology experts, engineers, and professionals in banking or government with a solid foundation in quantum science and its emerging applications. This program combines high-level academic teaching with insights into current developments in quantum technologies, leveraging expertise from across D-PHYS and the ETH Quantum Center. The CAS Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the development, launch, and implementation of the program, serving as the key interface among the CAS directors, participants, lecturers, the ETH School for Continuing Education (SCE), and other internal and external partners.

Job Description

As the Coordinator of CAS in Quantum Science, you will oversee and contribute to the development, launch, and execution of the CAS program. You will collaborate closely with CAS directors, D-PHYS professors, and administrative staff from ITP, acting as the main point of contact for the ETH SCE and relevant units at ETH Zurich, including the ETH Quantum Center. Your responsibilities will encompass:

• Development, conceptualization, and management of the continuing education program (CAS) in Quantum Science.
• Communication and coordination with lecturers, the D-PHYS study secretariat, SCE, and the ETH Quantum Center.
• Representation of the CAS and outreach regarding its activities.
• Engaging with internal and external academic and industry parties.
• Coordinating program marketing and communication efforts in collaboration with SCE and D-PHYS colleagues.
• Being the primary contact for prospective students and managing the student selection process.

Profile

• Excellent multi-stakeholder project management skills, with the ability to manage diverse workflows and prioritize effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of conveying complex concepts to varied stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in German is a plus for interactions with German-speaking stakeholders.
• Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous.
• A university degree with a thorough understanding of quantum science; a Master's or PhD in quantum science and technology is preferred.
• Interest in or experience with quantum science and technology concepts and implementations.
