Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients in both the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is seeking:
Construction Managers
This is a 12-month position based in the Stein area, Switzerland.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate and control service providers and suppliers, individual work steps, and material flows.
- Manage all of the client’s owned works and coordinate them with the assigned EPCM company.
- Lead external planning teams and construction companies assigned to the client, excluding the scope of EPCM.
- Ensure smooth flow of construction work, site organization, and care of construction site facilities in partnership with the EPCM company.
- Ensure structural realization in alignment with planning specifications, applicable regulations, and building standards.
- Coordinate with other Construction Managers to thoroughly review planned activities for impacts on ongoing projects.
- Conduct technical and commercial negotiations with the client’s suppliers and, where necessary, with the client’s Procurement team.
- Coordinate equipment with suppliers, EPCM team, and external Logistics team to ensure that sizing, crate configuration, and entry methods to site are reviewed and approved prior to installation.
- Ensure project objectives related to cost, deadlines, quality, and safety of assigned construction projects are achieved.
- Perform ongoing quality checks of mechanical pipework, pipework supports, cable trays, and ductworks to ensure compliance with the approved 3D model and all client standards, rectifying any identified issues with the EPCM company.
- Identify safety observations and implement corrective actions, ensuring they are communicated to all contractors on the project.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU citizenship required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a relevant engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience in managing large industrial construction projects.
- Experience in managing pharmaceutical construction projects, including cleanroom construction up to GMP grade C (ISO 8).
- Knowledge and experience with Navis Works 3D Building Information Management software (BIM).
- Proficient in project scheduling using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Understanding of clean and black utility requirements for the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Structured thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and excellent communication skills (both spoken and written).
- Fluent in English, with proficiency in German being an advantage.
